I was born and raised in the US, where I worked in corporate America and was first introduced to a positive culture training program that started out of Seattle built around a simple but powerful idea: we may not always control our circumstances, but we always get to choose our attitude and how we respond. It's something I've believed in ever since.
Twenty-five years ago, I moved to Australia and I still call it home today, though I'm back visiting family across the US often (my family's spread from Colorado to Florida to New Jersey).
After the move, my husband and I started our own business a boutique HR and Workplace Health & Safety firm. I spent years helping small businesses implement HR software, coach their leaders, build policies and inductions, and navigate strict employment legislation. But even after every compliance box was ticked, the policies written, the training done leaders were still struggling. Morale was still low. Staff were still leaving. Compliance had never actually been the problem.
That realization changed the direction of my business. I split it in two, sold the compliance side to a competitor, and focused entirely on culture bringing that Seattle-born philosophy of positive attitude and energy into workplaces across Australia and New Zealand.
But over time, I noticed something else: a one-off positivity training, no matter how good, didn't create lasting change. Teams would feel great for a week, then slide right back into old patterns. So I worked closely with my childcare clients over several years to build something different a step-by-step system that gives leaders the resources, training, and support to build their own culture, their own way, using a proven framework without needing to pay a consultant to fly in and "do the show" for their team once a year.
